After many years of running a successful beverage wholesale firm in Oklahoma City, Stuart S. Carey’s passion for the restaurant industry manifested itself with the formation of CAREY GROUP, INC in 1988. As a licensed Sonic Franchise, Stuart and his wife Kathy founded the first Sonic Drive-In in Tucson, AZ at Grant Road and I-10 in 1988.
Success followed which began a growth phase that led to the expansion of nine stores in the Tucson and Sierra Vista markets. Stuart is proud of the fact that CAREY GROUP, INC is a locally owned and operated company based in Tucson. In his free time, Stuart enjoys spending time with his family, fly-fishing, hiking, and rooting for University of Arizona sports teams.

Stuart J. Carey began his career with CAREY GROUP, INC after working in the restaurant industry in Dallas, Texas in 2000. Stuart’s vast experience from working in bars, restaurants and hotels provided a solid base for becoming a top operator in the Sonic System.
Mr. Carey has been the recipient of numerous awards from Sonic Industries and has served multiple terms on the Sonic Drive-In Franchise Advisory Council. Free time activities include working with several local charitable organizations in the Tucson area that are focused on advancing youth educational programs, coaching basketball at the Y.M.C.A, serving at his local church, hiking, and fly-fishing (his “happy place”).
